Abstract: Addressing gender stereotypes in vocational career choices is crucial for promoting gender equality and diversity in the workforce. This study explores how gender stereotypes influence vocational career choices and identifies strategies to mitigate these stereotypes. The objectives are: (1) to assess the impact of gender stereotypes on students' career choices, (2) to evaluate the effectiveness of current initiatives to promote gender diversity, and (3) to propose strategies for reducing gender bias in vocational education. A survey research design is employed, justified by the need to collect comprehensive data from students, educators, and industry professionals. The sample size includes 300 participants selected through purposive sampling. The case study focuses on vocational institutions in Enugu State, known for their efforts in promoting gender equality. Findings revealed that gender stereotypes significantly influenced career choices, often discouraging students from pursuing non-traditional roles. However, initiatives such as career counseling and mentorship programs were effective in promoting gender diversity. Recommendations included implementing gender sensitivity training for educators, promoting female role models in non-traditional fields, and encouraging equal participation of all genders in vocational programs.
